A DAY AT THE STABLES ( The Stables Malawi)

                         The stables gate

The day begun with a short drive (about 30 minutes) from our airbnb in Kanjedza, Blantyre. We had hoped there would be no rain because that would have messed with our plans to ride the horses, but luckily when we got there the sky was a bit cloudy but almost clear showing no indication of rain.

We got there at around 10:00 am to a very welcoming group of people, because of the time we arrived we were able to ride the horses before their lunch break which goes from 12:00 pm till 14:00 pm. The horses here are amazingly gentle and calm I felt as if I was a pro despite me being guided by one of the staff. The ride was about 30 minutes which went down to a nearby dam where we witnessed the locals there doing their fishing and then back to the stables. There are also options for longer rides as well but we chose this one because we are non riders so we each had a member of the staff guiding the horse on foot.

After the ride we then had a sit down with the owner of the stables who told us stories about some of the horses and how they ended up there and this was while we were waiting for our lunches.

The food was amazing, we started with the sandwiches and bruschetta and all the seasonings are in-house which makes them even more special, but please do not misunderstand my over simplification, the chefs here have turned the food into art, I could go on and explain how the butter used to grill the sandwiches feels as if it was baked into them or how the seasoning in the bruschetta was as if there was a physics equation as to the ratio but I'm not going to do that, instead I implore you to go and try it out for yourself and then convey your words to me, maybe then I'll have something to say that doesn't take away any aspect of the food. Finally, we had some chai and pancakes to end our day. This place is really tranquil and away from all the noise and pollution, you can even taste the fresh air. I highly recommend visiting this place whenever you have a chance and you wont regret it.For those going there simply search for The stables Malawi on google maps or follow the location link I've posted here.
