STREET FOOD IN MALAWI

 

Malawian street food comes in a lot of categories but in this post I'll talk to you about the most common ones which are fried chips and meat (any kind really) and also my favourites so lets start with the more generic found everywhere food which are chips (better known locally as chiwaya), usually you can tell if a spot is popular simply by looking at how much chips they have, if around rush hour the guys aren't peeling, cutting or frying then that can only mean that they are not the most popular but also usually in Malawi if there are no customers they usually just fry a whole lot of chips and keep it on the side to be heated up when a customer comes through and the more popular the place the more likely their chips are good, and to some of you who think chips are just chips then please try to go several different places and see if you won't end up having one spot you prefer.
